Inspiration Book #15

"Thus the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his earlier ones. For he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. And he had seven sons and three daughters, of whom he called the first Jeremiah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch. In all the land no other women were as beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brethren. After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; and he saw his children, his grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren. Then Job died, old and full of years."

Dear Dean,

10:14 PM Michael 0 Comments

I hope this actually isn't the third time I'm emailing starting with "I'm sorry". You probably think I am a broken record. I really am scared I am not going to finish in time. I'm trying ,not trying hard enough? to keep up. I want to work harder in your class, but for the first time ever, I feel like I can only do so much. And for the first time ever, I'm almost believing it is true. As though I can't power through the night, bus through the morning and run into class to please someone for a second. I wish I could have made you/me proud. I'm tired this time. And I hate myself for it. I'm sorry if I don't finish. See you tomorrow ...I hope.

I probably say

Sorry to everyone else before even once thinking to say it to myself.

I'm sorry Michael.

Preparations for Crossing the Jordan

2:27 AM Michael 0 Comments

"Early the next morning, Joshua moved with all the Israelites from Shittim to the Jordan, where they lodged before crossing over. Three days later the officers went through the camp and issued these instructions to the people: 'When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord, your God, which the levitical priests will carry, you must also break camp and follow it, that you may know the way to take, for you have not gone over this road before. But let there be a space of two thousand cubits between you and the ark. Do not come nearer to it.'

Joshua also said to the people, 'Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will perform wonders amoung you.' And he directed the priests to take up the ark of the covenant and go on ahead of the people; and they did so. Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'Today I shall begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know I am with you, as I was with Moses. Now command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant to come to a halt in the Jordan when they reach the edge of the waters.'"

I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow.
I wish I didn't have to work.
I wish I could stay awake forever.
I wish I dropped Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas.
I wish I could do better in accessories.
I wish I could finish the collection.
I wish I could post more often.
I wish I could have worked harder on the collection.
I wish I wasn't a procrastinator.
I wish I wasn't a coward.
I wish I were happy.
I wish I weren't alone.

Hermes
Hermes stands as one of my favorite collections to look at. Which is so weird because it's not usually my first choice.. I feel like we're moving into a good balance between tight and loose in men's wear. I will search the depths of the sea for slim, but am I the only one who gets a headache when they wear their clothes to tight. I think I'm moving into comfort... *eh don't hurt me! This coll is so perfect. I'll take em all. PS. surely I'm not the only one who is obsessed with their company name. "Mercury star power!"

Kenzo cute
Yamamoto
Although our styles are very different, I would like to honestly admit that Mr. Yamamoto is one of my biggest inspirations  and I aspire to approach fashion in a very similar way. Can you wait to see "This is My Dream?" because I am so ready to eat it. I feel like I collect menswear here that I would love to wear (..I know how selfish...) but after seeing the Tae Kyung sing Nella Fantasia wearing dress culottes I have been beyond into wide legged pantaloons. appealing: proportion proportion proportion
Ermenegildo Zegna
obvi
Miharayasuhiro I love these photographs (slash I adore the first outfits print!!)
Louis Vuitton
This summer, I'm taking a course called Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Back when I was on track, one of the articles we were assigned observed the folks of the Enlightenment views on what is considered savage, barbaric, and civilized and ultimately how they felt they were the superior man. It's interesting today how we have a gradually widening mentality to other ways of life: adding to trends like "native american" or the gypsy look and acceptance of other creeds and orientations. In this collection Louis Vuitton uses the Maasi colors of the Shuka obvious inspiration. Louis Vuitton's style manager, Kim Jones was influenced by his childhood blanket. And over all its a very travelish kind of look, like Jane and her daddy when they visited Tarzan. Really cool. Here's a little bit more on that.

Influential Person #12, Martha Stewart

11:07 PM Michael 0 Comments

You may or may not believe me (...but I think you might this time), when I was a kiddo during the summers and holidays I would religiously wake up in time to watch the Martha Stewart show because I was (and still am) absolutely obsessed with her. I used to want to be just. like. her. She can do any thing. As well as has a governing system over dishware, towels, gardening, stationary, decorating, lifestyle, food and health and an incredible amount more. She's so awesome... and I would pretend in the kitchen I was on her tv show (as herself of course) and my grandmother was my guest and I would explain to her how I would go pick the berries right outside the house with my nieces and nephews as the thanksgiving turkey is left outside to defrost. I'm so weird I know. But Martha is not. And considering all the mountains she's been able to climb over and still manage to be fabulux, I think she is quite inspiring and most definitely influential.
